Hard Starting Complaint (1939) -- This Buick service tip is from a war time book called 3,000 Tricks of the Trade, published by Automotive Digest sometime around 1943. -- A suggestion supplied by Carter on hard starting complaints on the 1939-40 Buick concerns the throttle linkage. It has been found that floor mats sometimes interfere with the full opening of the throttle linkage, thus preventing unloader action. This linkage must be adjusted carefully, otherwise the engine will race or always be supplied with only 3/4 throttle opening. Adjustment of this linkage should be made after the floor mat is in place. -- Terry Boyce, #3019, April, 1974. -- This Buick service tip is from a war time book called 3,000 Tricks of the Trade, published by Automotive Digest sometime around 1943.
